4th Water Research Commission (WRC) Biennial Symposium
The 4th Water Research Commission (WRC) Biennial Symposium was held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa from 11 to 13th of September 2019.
The symposium was themed “Innovation In Every Drop” and was centered on topical issues such as :
- SANITI (transforming the sanitation paradigm),
- Nexus Thinking (water-energy-food),
- Innovation and Natural Resources, Climate Futures,
- Water and Digitalisation.
The symposium also included in its programme : plenary and keynote presentations, parallel sessions, scientific posters and an interactive marketplace and exhibition.
The symposium had as objective to illustrate and share strategies on managing uncertainty and building capability through collaboration. The three-day symposium was also a strategic knowledge and information sharing platform for local and international delegates from industry, government, academia, funding institutions and investors playing a role in the water research, development and the innovation space.
It showcased and celebrated excellence in the South African water research and development domain whilst linking various stakeholders operating at different stages of the water, sanitation innovation value chain, and made an effort to strengthen the cooperation and coordination within the sector.
