13th International SedNet Conference

The upcoming SedNet Conference 2023 will be held from 6 to 8 September at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Portugal.

The preliminary conference program is available and outlines the sessions and activities planned for the event. A diverse and engaging program is covering a wide range of topics related to sediment management. This conference will provide valuable insights and foster fruitful discussions among experts in the field. The thematic session will give special attention to challenges posed by anthropogenic influences, resource exploitation and climate change, and how we can truly apply an integrated management approach that enables the sediment continuum.

The thematic sessions are:

1. Sediment quality guidance and sediment quality assessment. This session also includes the topics ‘Sediment health: what is it and how to achieve it?’ and ‘Zero pollution in the soil-sediment-water nexus’.
2. Circular economy – sediment as a resource.
3. Sediment in coastal and marine management.
4. Climate change and sediments: direct and indirect consequences and opportunities.
5. Sediment management concepts and sediment policy. This session also includes the topic of ‘Sediment literacy’.
