Research Centre Jülich (JÜLICH)
Project Management Jülich (PtJ) is a largely independent German agency within the Research Centre Jülich (JÜLICH). It supports its clients in the German Federal Government such as the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) as well as the federal states and the European Commission in implementing their research policy goals.
PtJ was established on the initiative of the former Federal Research Ministry in 1974 and is today one of the leading project management organisations in Germany. More than 800 employees handle a broad range of topics. The division “Sustainability” of the Berlin branch is the largest programme management entity in this field in Germany.
PtJ supports the implementation of the framework programme of BMBF “Research for Sustainable Development – FONA”, which includes the water focussed research priority “Sustainable Water Management – NaWaM”. For that purpose, PTJ is formally authorized by the ministry to independently conduct all tasks related to the programme management. Moreover, PtJ assists the ministry in strategic planning, analyzing, updating and evaluating/monitoring research and innovation programmes and in disseminating and exploiting results. Project Management Jülich also hosts several National Contact Points (NCP) for Horizon 2020. On behalf of BMBF PtJ contributes to numerous Joint Programming Initiatives (i.e. Water, FACCE, Oceans, Urban Europe), to the European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on Water and Agriculture and executes Coordination and Support Actions in the frame of Horizon 2020.
