Implementing the EU flood directive in flash flood prone areas

The aim of the international workshoporganized by the FP VII project IMPRINTS in BRUSSELS next 27th SEPTEMBER  is to show advanced scientific and technical tools oriented to support the implementation of the directive in basins where flash floods are the main cause of the flooding events, and to raise a joint reflection

between experts, stakeholders and risk management authorities about the challenges of implementing the EU Flood Directive in these areas.

On 26th SEPTEMBER the IMPRINTS platform organizes in BRUSSELS an International Course on Tools to support THE EU FLOOD DIRECTIVE implementation in Flash Flood plone areas. The aim of the course is to present the tools included on the Flash Flood Early Warning IMPRINTS Platform to the different actors involved in this kind of risk management (researchers, but specially technical responsibles of water agencies, emergency institutions, water enterprises and other stakeholders).

A number of experts involved in the development of the IMPRINTS Platform will present the details of the forecasting and warning algorithms which run behind. The course will be based on Computer Practices over the platform tools that will allow to understand and get familiar with these algorithms and tools as well as to interact with the developers to gain a maximum of comprehension of the advanced skills of the platform.
